For a three year old student, literacy begins in a very simple way. Children trace letters, color them, or try to follow their shape with a pencil. It is their first contact with writing, and each child progresses at their own pace.
Some already recognize the first letter of their name. Others are still learning how to hold a pencil properly or stay within the lines. All of this is part of the same process. Little by little, they become familiar with letters through repetition and play.
The activities are usually very hands-on. Coloring letters, tracing dotted lines, matching shapes. These are small steps that help them notice what letters look like and how they are formed.
At this stage, the goal is not for them to read or write independently. It is about getting to know letters, enjoying the activity, and feeling capable. Over time, everything will start to fall into place.
Para un alumno de tres años, la lectoescritura comienza de forma muy sencilla. Los niños trazan letras, las colorean o intentan seguir su forma con el lápiz. Es su primer contacto con la escritura y cada uno avanza a su ritmo.
Algunos ya reconocen la inicial de su nombre. Otros todavía están aprendiendo a coger bien el lápiz o a no salirse. Todo forma parte del mismo proceso. Poco a poco se van familiarizando con las letras a través de la repetición y el juego.
Las actividades suelen ser muy manipulativas. Colorear letras, repasar líneas de puntos, asociar formas. Son pequeños pasos que les ayudan a fijarse en cómo son las letras y cómo se construyen.
En esta etapa no se busca que lean o escriban solos. Se trata de conocer las letras, disfrutar de la actividad y sentirse capaces. Con el tiempo, todo irá encajando.
